With only a couple hours to see Grand Cayman island, Stingray City is a definite must. For about an hour you can swim with the stingrays. After arriving at George Town Cruise Port, you will take a shuttle bus to another dock where they have all the departing boats that venture to Stingray City in the North Sound of the island. What’s amazing is the fact that there are such shallow sandbars surrounded by an ocean of deeper water.
The shallow, turquoise tinted, sparkling, clear, water was perfect for playing with these gentle, slippery creatures.
After playing with the stingrays, you can continue on a short boat ride to the nearby Rum Point Beach to chill out and relax for a couple hours. You can return to George Town port by bus and enjoy some local treats like the delectable Caribbean rum cake. If stingrays are not something you would be into, you can always find other short excursions to join from George Town like taking a submarine to explore the reefs, hanging out at Seven Mile Beach, scuba diving, visiting the Cayman Turtle Farm or simply shopping at Bayshore Mall.
